Chef/Owner Michael Getter has worked in the restaurant business for over 20 years. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, he has worked in a wide variety of restaurant and catering settings; from the a la carte world of small, fine-dining independent restaurants to catering events for up to 2,500 guests. At the age of 24 he was put in charge as executive chef of the acclaimed 21 Federal on Nantucket, where he received rave reviews. He then moved into the chef/owner position of American Seasons, also on Nantucket. American Seasons is consistently rated one of the islands best restaurants. After a number of years behind the stove, he rounded out his experience by shifting to the Sommelier role, receiving the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for his efforts. During a brief stint off island, he worked as the Executive Chef of MAX Ultimate Foods, one of Boston’s premier catering companies, where he oversaw a kitchen staff of up to 75 cooks producing product for up to 60 individual parties a week. To continue growing his knowledge of wines he also worked with Ruby Wine Distributors, selling premium wines from around the world to the islands top restaurants and retailers. His work has been published in Bon Appetite, Gourmet, New York Times and the Boston Globe.
